Memorial Day Weekend 2009

With some last minute decisions, J.R. and I both ended up in Memphis for the weekend. My best friend Amber lives there and I had been planning on visiting her for some time. Things just kind of fell into place Thursday evening and by Saturday morning at 9am (it would have been earlier if I hadn't gotten my key stuck in the lock on my apartment door and J.R. and I hadn't spent some time installing a new deadbolt at 2am:)) we were on our way to West Tennessee.

Amber found several things for us to do, starting with a picnic at the river front during the "Memphis in May"activities. The weather did not hold off for the entire time we were out there, but we made the best of it and had a good time. The highlight of the day (especially for J.R.) was the airshow. It was truly incredible!

The next day we toured a little of the Mississippi delta, stood at the gates of Graceland, picked strawberries at a small local farm, drove a paddle boat around the lake at Shelby Farms Park, and ended our visit at a coffee shop playing Apples to Apples (my new favorite card game!:)). Thank you Amber and Mike for having us!

A blog for family and friends

Since our families live so far from us, we thought this might be a convenient way to share our lives with our loved ones. We hope you enjoy!

Jen's 27th Birthday

I traveled to Akron for my birthday weekend. It was a long day of work and airport travel, but I was really excited to see J.R. and be able to spend the last part of the day with him. He greeted me with a cake that surprised us both and turned out to be one of the most delicious I had ever tasted. I am pretty lucky to have a guy that will bake for me, even after four years of dating:)!

I stepped out of the room for a second to wash my hands and when I came back in, a wrapped box was sitting on the kitchen counter. We had agreed that our birthday presents to each other this year were tickets to a Kenny Chesney concert coming up in June, so you can imagine my shock when I unwrapped the box and found a Nikon D90!!! I have wanted one for two years, and had planned on saving for it over the next year, but J.R. said he wanted me to start my hobby now (I think he was kind of excited to have it too). It was an amazing, sweet gift considering the research he put into finding just the right lens, etc.

It was a great 27th birthday! Thank you to everyone for the cards and phone calls!

Here are some more pictures we took with the new camera:
