A few more pictures...

Here are some of those promised joint maternity pictures. I had big plans for these, but without another photographer who can help with focus and light metering, my vision proved more difficult to accomplish than anticipated. The Texas heat didn't make things much easier for us. Apparently even at sunrise, June is unforgiving. Our session had to come to an abrupt halt when this preggo woman could not stand the sun beating down on her and her oven of a belly any longer. We may attempt a few more, but only if we are sent the gift of a cooler day from above.

So here's to four more weeks of pregnancy, give or take, in the Texas heat! This shall be interesting!

Baby Comparison

It's fun to imagine what a combination of parents' genes will produce. A lot of couples tend to resemble each other to begin with, but that is definitely not the case with J.R. and me. His blond hair, blue eyes, long, skinny face, and stout build are a sharp contrast to my dark hair and eyes, round face, and more lanky build. We are curious to see what traits Reid inherits from each of us. For the time being, here are some picture comparisons of us in our early years:)

(sorry for the poor quality, apparently our scanner isn't a fan of 1980's pictures)

We were showered...

We made our last "childless" drive to Tennessee a few weekends ago, and were lucky enough to be showered with gifts and well wishes at a beautiful  baby shower. Reid will be starting out life right with a ton of cute clothes and gear, thanks to mine and my dad's friends.
Flowers from my mom
Looks great on you, babe!
One of the hits of the shower were the "teepee" cups that topped the diaper cake. You can look up what those are if you aren't familiar, but they were pretty funny!
Extra special gift: My sister made this for Reid's room
Reid's first tool kit. I am sure he will be very mechanically inclined like his daddy!
With the assistance of our sweet neighbor, Peggy and my best friend Amber (right), my sister pulled off a very beautiful shower full of lots of DIY decor that I am sure took her hours and hours. I am very appreciative of all her hard work.
My grandmother was even able to come to our shower. Although I am sure she was in some pain and exhausted, she sure did look beautiful and classy as always! She made the day extra special for us.

Thanks to my sister for taking pictures of the shower! She also took a few maternity pictures for me that evening. Our plan was to take some of J.R. and I the next morning, but poor guy became violently sick that Saturday evening after the shower, and needed to stay in bed all day Sunday. So excuse all of the pictures of me in this post (I am pretty sick of seeing my bloated self too, lol). By request, here are a few of the ones she took:
I have convinced J.R. to accompany me to take some more maternity photos with the both of us this weekend. We will see how well we can accomplish this on our own with only the help of a tripod. If we do pull it off, I will post a few next week:). Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
