A Few Lazy Weekends

I cannot honestly say that we have had a lot to blog about lately. We have been staying close to home, enjoying the neighborhood pool  kid hub, taking classes at our gym (boot camp, spin, cardiosculpt), and in poor J.R.'s case, spending a few hours on Sunday at the office. All will change next month when we venture out to both of our respective family homes, but more on that later.

We did make the hour and a half drive to Galveston Island on Saturday to explore. A few burgers and zuchini straws seaside made for a nice change of scenery.

With lowered expectations of picturesque beaches thanks to last month's trip, the atmosphere was still nice and if I closed my eyes I could almost imagine my hair was being blown by the salty coastal breezes of the Atlantic:). The view was at times upstaged by our neighbors at the next table who were not feeling any pain thanks to their giant beer bong, lol.

Long Time, No Blog

It's been a while and I wish I had some beautiful firework pictures to include in our first July post, but I don't. For the first time since we can remember, we did not participate in the tradition. The Woodlands decided weeks in advance that they were enacting a burn ban on the area, and the scheduled display would be canceled. We couldn't even buy a few sparklers for kicks. I get it, we live in the woodlands and have had "historical drought conditions," but what a disappointment the day of! It just didn't feel the same.

Regardless, J.R. and I decided to walk the waterway where they had bands and vendors set up to entertain and serve the throngs of families who ventured out. People were in high spirits in spite of the major absence of the evening, as evidenced by this furry attendee.

As soon as I pulled out my camera a gang of small children surrounded the poor guy. Somehow, I think he was loving all of the attention though!

The waterway is beautiful, I must admit. Even though we didn't witness any firework magic, a nice sunset walk with J.R. made for a memorable evening.

I wanted to also share a photo session I had a few weeks ago. They are friends of some of our friends we made in PA, and were so incredibly nice! Wouldn't you love to be a part of this gene pool:)!

These were my favorites in no particular order...

She was such a well-behaved baby, even at the end of the session when she was clearly worn out:). In spite of the heat (by the end of the session I was ready to jump into a swimming pool), this beautiful family was wonderful to work with and I truly enjoyed meeting them!
