Last few days as a family of two plus a pooch...

Believe it or not, I am still organizing the pictures we took at the hospital, so I thought I would post about the days prior to our little guy's arrival. Reid's birth story will follow in a few days (or sooner if I can get to it).

I look at these pictures and have to smile a little at how blissfully unaware we were of what we were in for just days later:). I wouldn't change a second of July 7th and 8th because it brought us one of the happiest days of our lives, but the drama that accompanied those days was nothing like we imagined. More on this later.

Anyhow, back to the subject at hand: our last days as a family of two and Max.We had finally made it to 37 weeks (full term) the day before the forth of July, and my pregnant belly was in full bloom!

We were excited to finally witness the fireworks display on the Waterway this year. If you can recall, we had missed out on it last year due to the extreme drought conditions. Talk about Houston hot! There was not much in my closet I could wear at this point, but I was determined to brave the heat because what's the 4th without fireworks?

I have to admit that The Woodlands display did not disappoint (although you Tennesseans would probably agree that little compares to the Labor Day "Boomsday" festivities in Knoxville). J.R. and I had originally planned to watch them from the top of the parking garage he uses during the work week, but apparently half of the city had come up with a similar plan.

Plan B was to take advantage of an empty, air conditioned office with a nice view in J.R.'s building (made us wonder why this was Plan B?). I downloaded the local radio station so we hear the choreographed broadcast of patriotic tunes, and we sat in our comfy office chairs and enjoyed the show.

J.R. had scored some free tickets to the Houston Astros game, so the following Friday night, we headed out to Minute Maid Stadium. Thank goodness for indoor, air conditioned stadiums!

We had amazing seats and really enjoyed the game. A sweet lady took our picture with my phone and little did we know that it would end up serving as our last picture prior to Reid's arrival
(my water broke the next day!).

Unfortunately, the poor Astros were on a losing streak that continued that night, but we had a good time exploring the stadium (we walked the circumference several times--which may have encouraged Reid to make his early appearance:)) They opened up the retractable roof for a fireworks display after the game, so we were able to enjoy two displays within a week's time!

Stay tuned for our little man's birth story! I still can't believe he's here and he's ours:)!
