Family Photos

Our summer has been busy with lots of visitors (yay!) and a few weeks ago, our first family vacation with Reid. After two years of a lot of laughter and happiness, but also some stress, sadness and some tears, we welcomed it with open arms and set out to really enjoy the beaches of the Sanibel and Captiva Island. We scheduled the trip to coincide with our fourth wedding anniversary, and also planned to celebrate surviving almost two years of parenthood. I know, can you believe he is two next month?!

The first few days were beautiful. Introducing Reid to the ocean for the second time, now as an active toddler, was an experience. He definitely has a love/hate relationship with the ocean at this point, but it was still so neat to see him interact with a different environment. Around the fourth afternoon of our trip, we started to notice a difference in Reid's behavior and by that night he was sick (all over me at dinner in fact). We spent the next day (our anniversary) confined to our condo rental, and the rest of the time allowing him to recover from his fever and what we later found out was hand, foot and mouth disease--yuck.

I'm still so thankful we were able to take a trip together, and look forward to many more in the future. We learned a lot about vacationing with a kiddo, and plan to apply that to future trips;)! A few days into our vacation, before the "plague" hit our condo, I had scheduled a session with a local photographer to have some family photos taken. We have less than a handful of photos of the three of us from the last two years, and I am truly in love with a few of the images the photographer captured. She was amazing with Reid, and I made sure to take notes on the off-chance I ever do anything professionally with my hobby:). Here are a few photos from our session:

By this point it was getting pretty warm. Note to self and any reader considering this: never wear a maxi dress for a summer photo session on the beach!
It gets hot much more quickly than you might realize!

I also have some photos I took of our trip that I will try to post soon.
Hope you have a happy happy Monday!
