We waded our way through all of the crazy tailgaters, clad in their cowboy boots, hats, bikinis and yes...speedos:( to find our seats in the stadium. It was a beautiful day, not too hot or too cold...perfect weather for an outdoor concert! We were unable to see Lady Antebellum because of the heavy traffic getting into the stadium, but made it just in time to see Miranda Lambert! The highlight was hearing her version of "In the Midnight Hour"!
Montgomery Gentry played next (not as much of a fan), and then SUGARLAND! J.R. and I both love Jennifer Nettles! You can tell through her music that she has an amazing spirit and really loves what she does for a living. It was nice to finally see her and Christian Bush perform live! I was shocked when they blew up the gigantic balloons and started crowd-surfing. What a neat idea (and aren't they trusting, lol)!
Finally, Kenny Chesney was up! It was great seeing J.R.'s face light up when he heard the intro music! You could tell he was so excited:)! We heard Kenny start singing, but could not find him at first, only to realize he had been lifted out of a tent in the middle of the stadium, suspended on a chair as he floated over the crowd. He played all of J.R.'s favorite songs and also invited Matt Nathanson on stage to sing with him during a few songs. Nathanson has co-written several of his hits including "Back Where I Come From" and the new song "Down the Road." I was so excited that they played both of these! Some of you may not know that Kenny is originally from East Tennessee, close to where I grew up!
It was an incredible concert and J.R. and I really want to go to another soon (in a smaller venue next time:))!
The next day we drove a little over an hour to Put-In Bay, which sits on Lake Erie. It is a small island that you have to take a ferry out to. J.R. brought his bike and I rented one. We rode around the perimeter of the island looking at some of the boats in the bay, vacation rentals, a lighthouse memorial and the shops. It was a very peaceful, relaxing way to spend the day together. We had a lot of fun!
Um...yeah...goofy:)
Relaxing after about a 10 mile bike ride:)
